If you listen to my podcast or follow me on social media, you may remember that in the fall, I shared the news about my recent engagement.
Well, it happened… I got married!
The Love Story
On April 29th, my partner and I got married in Loveland, Colorado — the land of love. We got married at this sculpture called the Loveland Heart Arch, which is the largest “love lock” sculpture in the country. (You know the love lock bridge in Paris? It’s like that, but in the shape of a heart.)
We were married at sunrise, just before 6 am! When I sent out wedding invitations to my loved ones, a lot of them asked me why it was so important to me to have a sunrise wedding. One of them even asked, “Are sunrise weddings even a thing?”
I have always been a big fan of sunrises. When I can see the sunrise in the morning, I always feel more awake and ready to take on the day. I also love when the sky turns this pinkish purple color just as the sun’s about to come up over the horizon.
But there’s another reason I love the sunrise. In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah writes that the Lord’s mercies never cease; His mercies are new every morning. The prophet Isaiah writes that God sweeps away our wrongdoings like the morning mist. The king and psalmist David writes that joy comes with the morning.
Among the people who came to my wedding, we all had different versions of faith. But to me, these verses carry a great meaning regardless of one’s spiritual beliefs. They tell us that every morning brings renewal and joy and love and grace, and I wanted to get married in the fullness of these reminders.
We all experience different seasons in life, and some are tougher than others. I’ve been going through a very tough season.
But my partner is my sunrise.
No matter how dark the day was yesterday, he is always there to brighten my morning with a hug, an “I love you,” and the New York Times crossword puzzle. He knows me and sees me in a way that no one else does, and he still chooses to show up every day for me.
For me, my partner is proof of God’s mercy, the morning mist, and joy.
Want to celebrate us?
My partner and I didn’t register for wedding gifts. Instead, if you’d like to help us celebrate, we’d love for you to make a donation to CASA Works, a nonprofit that supports children in the foster care system. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help serve these vulnerable children.
Want to schedule a coaching call?
If you schedule a coaching call with me anytime in the month of June 2023, I’ll donate my typical fee to CASA Works as part of our wedding fundraiser!
During our call, we can talk about anything related to nonprofit marketing or fundraising. Click here for some ideas for what to talk about.
